| Greetings U3A members, Winter is upon us, which means more time to indulge in U3A courses!! We are halfway through the year, which means halfway to Christmas, but also halfway to losing some committee members sadly. How many volunteers does it take to run U3A? About 100!! Committee, committee support, conveners, gopher table ladies, head of catering, tech support for meetings, Very much appreciated for your contribution to U3A , all of you. We will, however, grind to a complete halt in February without a Treasurer. I keep flogging this because it’s part of my job description to make sure we have a committee, so sorry to keep bringing it up. I have an Access Radio interview next week to promote U3A and try and enthuse people to join and, like myself, do some roles before the brain turns any further to a cabbage. There is a therapeutic benefit to taking on new roles, it gives the brain a real wake-up call, as those who were around for my first messy Newsletters will remember. Good feedback from Paul’s piece on Windows 10 and 11. My laptop decided to save me the trouble by dramatically killing it’s screen. A $5 set of screwdrivers from the Warehouse, and a You Tube video, and I managed to take out the hard drive and then take the dead laptop to the Recycle place at Colson Road. Now we have to deal with phones needing replacing due to the end of 3g. I remember when you NEVER had to replace ANYTHING. Things were built to last forever, and you owned them, instead of leasing stuff like music, etc. And you are never ‘to new’ to join the Committee, by the way.
